I received a gift from a friend this week to sample a few products- mascara, brow pencil and eyeliners from Eye of Horus. This was recommended to me as I have eye sensitives as I have not worn mascara for over 5 years since I used to have conjunctivitis on an annual basis since high school. I haven’t had it for the past 2 years since becoming a vegetarian, but I’m not keen on risking my eyes putting toxic chemicals on my lashes.
I researched into Eye of Horus Cosmetics and the owner also had eye sensitivity to make up which was why she created a mascara formulation that would not irritate her eyes, smudge, flake, and would actually nurture and assist lash health and growth, using protective waxes and precious nurturing oil based makeup.
Eye of Horus has an ethical mantra to ensure that no ingredient or finished product has been tested on animals. Ingredients include Rice bran, Bees wax, Candellila and Carnauba Wax and Organic Castor Oil, Lavender Flower, Star Anise Extract, Evening Primrose Oil, and the revered ancient Egyptian Organic Moringa Oil, oil of the Pharaoh’s found in Tutankhamen’s tomb, also known as “ The Tree of Life” as it was revered by the gods for its beautifying and regenerating power. They have No Parabens in any of their products, making it less toxic and natural than most cosmetic companies out there.
Their cosmetic range focuses exclusively on the eye, which became the Eye of Horus symbol, and included their main product- mascara, liquid liner, and a range of goddess pencils, a Brow Define and Dual Brow Perfect Brow range, and Italian baked wet and dry shadows.
After reading all these, I’m definitely game enough to try their mascara (as well as all the other products above) and see how my eyes feel during the day. I’ll be blogging about my experiences regularly so watch this space!
